Lill came in 20th place, in a race won by Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand-Prévot. Lill, who represented her country at the 2012 London Games and in Tokyo in 2021, was looking to build on her great performances in the last two years.
She won bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and silver at the 2023 UCI Marathon World Championships.
Alan Hatherley spoke to eNCA.
